Employees are increasingly filing complaints about perceived patterns of misconduct by their organization. Workplace investigations, which traditionally focused on inter-personal dynamics, are growing to involve claims regarding organizations allegedly engaging in exclusion, favoritism, bias, toxicity, and inconsistent enforcement in policies or practices.

Substantiated or not, any cultural problems must be addressed to ensure employers are creating a respectful workplace and to mitigate against risk.

Adam Investigations Counsel Founder and Managing Partner Aisha Shelton Adam will discuss how workplace investigations address this shift at the 45th Annual CALPELRA Conference. Ms. Adam’s presentation, “Investigators, Mount Up! Catalyzing Change in Workplace Culture Through Effective Investigations,” will be given virtually during the superhero-themed, 5-day conference beginning Nov. 16.

During the presentation, Ms. Adam, a credentialed workplace and Title IX attorney investigator, will explain the unique role investigators play in identifying underlying cultural and systemic issues within an organization that go beyond an employee’s complaint. She will identify the best investigative practices that address both allegations of misconduct and organizational issues, and provide techniques to effectively communicate sensitive and complex cultural and organizational issues during and after an investigation — and in a style that promotes change.
