Jane Tanimura

Jane Tanimura, senior investigator at Adam Investigations Counsel, is a seasoned employment law attorney. Her interest in investigative work stems from her natural empathy and curiosity to learn people’s stories, which allow her to connect with witnesses. She enjoys the fact-finding process and is a firm believer in the power of impartial investigations to ensure fairness in the workplace.

Jane Tanimura combines seasoned employment law expertise with a passion for impartial investigations, ensuring workplace fairness in discrimination, harassment and wage-related cases.


Before focusing on investigations, Ms. Tanimura practiced as a litigator. She worked as Senior Counsel for the Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) where she represented the State of California in matters involving unlawful discrimination in employment and housing and bias-motivated violence.

At DFEH, Ms. Tanimura investigated and litigated individual and class cases involving allegations of violations of the Fair Employment and Housing Act, including pay equity claims against technology, gaming, and other major companies.

Earlier in her career, she worked at an employment firm where she gained significant experience litigating complex and emotionally charged matters. She has successfully represented employees from all walks of life, including farm laborers, HR professionals, creative executives, engineers, compliance officers, car salesmen, property managers, television crew members, C-suite executives, and many more, in discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, family and medical leave, and wage and hour matters.

She is an Association of Workplace Investigators Certificate Holder.

Ms. Tanimura earned her J.D. from the University of Southern California’s Gould School of Law in 2012. While in law school, she served as an extern for the Los Angeles District Office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission as well as an extern for the Honorable Judge Christina Snyder of the United States District Court for the Central District of California. She also externed at the Los Angeles Office of the Federal Public Defender, having worked in both the trial and capital habeas units. Upon graduation, she was recognized with the Miller-Johnson Equal Justice Prize which honors a graduating student who has demonstrated the greatest commitment to civil and social justice.

Before law school, Ms. Tanimura was a Los Angeles corps member for Teach for America. She graduated from Brown University magna cum laude and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
